To recent high school graduates —

This is a scary time, trust us. We’ve all been through it, so we know how intimidated you might feel. Here are some pieces of advice to consider from some people who have gone through it.

“You don’t have to find your forever job right now, or have a super clear career path all figured out. Be flexible, adaptable and ready to try something new. You never know where one random job opportunity can take you. Stay moving towards something positive and I’m confident that you will end up exactly where you need to be. ” — Sarah Brown

“Have a plan but be willing to change it up.  Keep yourself open to new ideas and opportunities.  And actively seek out strong mentors.” — Grace Cruz

“Join activities that interest you, meet people and network. The best jobs often come through people you build relationships with.” — Talma Schultz

“Be open to all possibilities and become comfortable with the uncomfortable – that’s where you grow the most.” -Sara Maldonado

Ultimately, there’s a lot of advice out there and a lot of ways you can go about your next four years. But don’t sweat the small stuff, life goes on. You’ll make plenty of mistakes, trust us. But take this advice to heart (or, at least some of it) and you’ll likely start to feel less and less anxious about the years to come.
