CENTER FOR POWERFUL PUBLIC SCHOOLS CHOSEN FOR SVPLA SYSTEMS CHANGE ACCELERATOR
Los Angeles, CA – Center for Powerful Public Schools was chosen for the Social Venture Partners Los Angeles (SVP) inaugural class of their Systems Change Accelerator, a 9-month intensive program designed to bolster the work to shift social inequities on a broad range of issues.
Center for Powerful Public Schools is addressing the issue that public school students – particularly those from historically underrepresented populations and/or living in poverty – are not adequately prepared for success in postsecondary education and 21st Century jobs.
“We are thrilled for the opportunity to be a part of the first SVPLA cohort and are looking forward to working with leaders invested in social change and equity,” said Jeanne Fauci, Executive Director of Center for Powerful Public Schools.
This unique program will bring together nearly 100 SVP “Partners” – business leaders, entrepreneurs, and civic leaders – to coach and mentor five emerging leaders to create powerful social change.
“There is a powerful opportunity to channel the networks, expertise, and capital of private sector and nonprofit leaders – we believe the synergy will be catalytic to accelerating profound social change across Los Angeles.” said Christine Margiotta, Executive Director of SVP.
The participants were chosen from a competitive pool of applicants, who went through a rigorous review and selection process by SVP Partners. Participants will receive training and coaching to strengthen their infrastructure, hone their intervention, craft their pitch, and build their capital.
“As an SVP Partner and social entrepreneur, I see the opportunity to leverage my skills and capital for social good. I believe the result will be far greater than the sum of our parts, and our Partners, who come from such diverse professional backgrounds, are thrilled to contribute in this way” said Way-Ting Chen, SVP partner & board chair.
